RUBi - Bramble Cay Melomys
ANiMOZ #x301
Code: RUBi
Common name: Bramble Cay Melomys
Taxonomy: Melomys rubicola
Level: HERB | Form: FLEE
Status: EXTINCT | BiOME: COAST
Overcomes: Drought
SUPERPOWERS:
SCALETAIL:
RUBi had lots of hard scales along her tail which she used in her Scaletail defence! These scales may also have helped her regulate her body temperature through reflecting the sun's rays.
WEAKNESSES:
ANTHROPOCENE:
Sadly, RUBi was unable to cope with the rapid changes occurring in Planet Earth’s ecosystems. The speed of this change, which means many species can’t evolve quick enough to cope, is caused by humans - with many scientists calling our current epoch (a period in time) the Anthropocene. RUBi went extinct in 2016, and is the first mammal proven to have been lost due to human-induced climate change.
