ABOUT THE SPECIES
The fastest parrot on Earth, the Swift Parrot only breeds in Tasmania and then flies across Bass Strait to forage on the flowering eucalypts in open box–ironbark forests of the Australian mainland. In 2015 the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) listed the Swift Parrot as critically endangered due to logging of its habitat and predation by sugar gliders. IUCN recommended that all public lands that support Swift Parrots be placed under secure, permanent conservation management. This has not happened and logging of the Swift Parrot nesting and foraging habitat has continued.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Bob Brown Foundation has been campaigning for protection of the Swift Parrot and it’s critical habitat in Tasmania since 2015. The work we do for the conservation of the species habitat and survival of the Swift Parrot includes monitoring their threatened habitat and lobbying for it’s protection in secure conservation reserves, we hold rallies, lobby governments, conduct frontline actions in the forests, lobby the customers of the timber that is cut down in the Swift Parrot habitat and coordinate a public awareness program about their plight.
