ABOUT THE SPECIES
Kowari are marsupial carnivores that live on the vast rocky gibber plains of central Australia. They eat anything they can get their jaws on, including bugs, mammals, reptiles, birds and eggs, and they don’t need to drink. They are good-looking animals, and have a beautiful brush of black fur on their tails. Kowari are threatened by cattle and sheep, which trample their burrows while grazing, and face multiple threats from introduced cats, foxes and rabbits.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Team Kowari aims to educate the public about the Kowari’s existence, as well as fund vital research projects to learn more about Kowaris and provide conservation management solutions.
